‘WHY NIGERIANS’ LIFE EXPECTANCY IS FALLING’ – ENOUGH OF TALKS AND TIME FOR ACTION
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic developed by the United Nations to measure and rank countries' levels of social and economic development based on four criteria: Life expectancy at birth, mean years of schooling, expected years of schooling and gross national income per capita. In simple terms it is the actual measurement of the development of people since economic growth alone can't explain development. But, it is very unfortunate that over the years in Nigeria, no serious attention has been accorded to the nation’s HDI reports. The simple reason is because, the content of the reports are usually not news to us. The content of these reports no longer pricks the heart of our leaders.
