Retirement is one of the most important life events that everybody is bound to experience. It is an experience that you cannot avoid unless you die much younger. But, my prayer is that the almighty God will not allow you to die young in Jesus name. I was compelled to write this note after considering the ordeals of most of the retirees from my place of work. One of them, while lamenting to me recently said, “The greatest regret that I am living with today is that, if I had known that retirement will be this tough, I should have embezzled enough money while in service.” Another one said, “The government is actually punishing retirees because, the value of the naira keeps depreciating while prices keeps going higher and higher but our little stipends does not increase.” Hello, it is better to learn from the experiences of others. Do not let the amount of money that you are earning today to continue to blindfold you; a day is coming, very very soon when you will be out of the job
